Counseling Fees

The fees for counseling and therapy in English are based on a flexible scale depending on the client's individual or family income and situation, usually starting from Y10,000 for an individual appointment and from Y15,000 for a couple, and are agreed upon together by the counselor or therapist and the clients during their first session together. Naturally special consideration is also given if a client is experiencing financial difficulties.

Usually a counseling session takes 50 minutes, although appointments for 90 minute sessions may be arranged under certain circumstances at the clients request and in agreement with the clients counselor or therapist.

Medical Fees and Health Insurance

The National Health Insurance System (Hokensho) cannot currently be used for counseling in Japan. Only the fees of qualified medical doctors and psychiatrists who are nationally licensed in Japan to practice medicine, including the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and disorders, and also the prescription of medication, are covered by this system with the client only being required to pay up to 30% of the actual consultation fees and of any medications prescribed.

We can provide statements in English of all fees paid by our counseling center clients in support of any claims they make on their own private health insurance schemes.
